Can I marry a new revert muslim practicing male? i am a born muslimah. the revert muslim has only one non- muslim mother and a sister. my question is that Is it ok to marry him? does he need to change his name to an islamic name in order for Nikkah to be done? is Circumcision Necessary?, Is it ok to live in the same house where the non muslim mother lives? What should my attitude/treatment be like with my non muslim mother in law? the mother os the new revert is a sikh and does not practice her own religion at home. Please help.
Assalaamu alaykum sister

There is nothing in marrying a new revert/converted Muslim as long as one fulfills the basic conditions, which is to have permission from her wali (guardian). If your father is alive and happy with this marriage, it is perfectly alright to marry him. If the father is not around, then uncle or brother would be able to consent for this relationship.

He does not need to change his name as long as it does not contain any word with questionable meaning. You need to check this with someone.

Circumcision is not necessary although preferable.

You can share the same house with your mother in-laws. You must be very kind and generous to her in order to bring her close to Islam. Of course, you can?t participate in their religious festivals, rituals, prayers etc. Also take care of the food they eat as it might be dedicated to the idols they worship, which makes it haraam (prohibited) to be consumed by Muslims. Besides these, try to be kind to her and explain gradually and with wisdom why you can?t do certain things. This means that you must strive to acquire religious knowledge in order to propagate Islam properly.

May Allaah guide and bless you.
