Over 25,105 Palestinians have been killed and tens of thousands more injured. This number is expected to increase rapidly as airstrikes continue. Almost half of those that have been killed are children. In the Gaza Strip, the strikes are thought to have forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes. Seeking shelter in dozens of schools, they urgently need food and other basic survival items.
Gaza in desperate need now of food, hygiene supplies and medicine. With most people struggling to eat every day and concerning signs of epidemic diseases, we urge more aid to be permitted into Gaza. The UN has warned that bloody diarrhea and jaundice, as well as high levels of infections are a worrying signal of an epidemic.
A complete siege has cut off all food, water, fuel and electricity from 2.3 million people. Terrifying scenes show utter destruction of cities razed to the ground, highways strewn with rubble and bodies, and of generations of families carrying what they can as they flee to southern Gaza.
A third of the people in Palestine live below the poverty line. Most people do not have enough food, 90% of available water is unfit for public consumption, and trauma is taking its toll on ordinary families. Much of the population relies on humanitarian aid from charities.
